RCA policy check

RCA check online: how to verify a policy in the AIDA database (formerly CEDAM)

In short: you can check the validity of any RCA policy for free in the official AIDA database (formerly CEDAM, renamed in 2019), run by BAAR. You go to aida.info.ro, enter the registration number or the chassis number (VIN) and instantly see the insurer, the policy series and the expiry date. It works both for your own car and for a second-hand car you are about to buy. And if you’d rather not keep track of expiry dates yourself, the Pago app has the Auto area, which monitors your RCA policy and alerts you in good time before it expires.

Check and track your RCA policy directly in Pago

The easiest way to always know whether your RCA policy is valid is to keep it in the Auto area of the Pago app. You add your car once, and Pago tracks the policy and sends you a notification before it expires — so you never risk driving uninsured or getting a fine. Besides RCA, the Auto area keeps your rovinietă (road vignette) and ITP (technical inspection) in one place too, with the same expiry alerts.

  • Get an automatic reminder before your RCA expires — no need to remember the date yourself.
  • See your policy’s validity right on your phone, anytime.
  • Renew your RCA on the spot by comparing real offers from insurers, pay in lei and get the policy by e-mail.

Frequently asked questions about checking an RCA policy

How do I check whether a second-hand car has valid RCA?

You look the car up in the AIDA database by registration number or by chassis number (VIN) before you buy it. You will see whether it has a valid RCA policy, which insurer issued it and how long it runs — useful so you don’t take over an uninsured car.

Why doesn’t my policy show up in AIDA?

A newly issued policy reaches the AIDA database in roughly 1–14 days from issue. Until then your contract is valid from the start date written on the policy — even if it does not appear in the online database yet.

Is checking an RCA policy free?

Yes. Checking in the AIDA database is public and free, you need no account and no app. You enter the registration number or the VIN and get the result on the spot.
